Pope: Pray for peace in Jerusalem

At this moment, our thoughts and our hearts are directed especially to Jerusalem, where the paschal mystery was accomplished. I am deeply saddened by the recent conflicts and tensions occurring in that city, which is spiritual home to Christians, Jews and Muslims, and is the prophecy and promise of that universal reconciliation that God desires for all the human family. Peace is a gift that God entrusts to the human authorities, to cultivate it through dialogue and respect for all rights, and through reconciliation and forgiveness. Therefore, pray that those responsible for the fate of Jerusalem courageously engage e the path of peace and follow it with perseverance.
